Prescription Medicines

In less than five years, our Design and Development team at Indigene has successfully delivered two Prescription (Rx) portfolios that are now in development and created a promising pipeline of candidates in the design phase.

Our two development portfolios--IG-RD-001/002 (Leucet) and IG-MD-009 (ZeMet)--are designed to address the significant unmet need in the respiratory areas of allergic rhinitis/asthma and in the metabolic disease areas of type 2 diabetes/metabolic syndrome, respectively.

IG-RD-001 (Leucet)—Our oral medication under development for the treatment of allergic rhinitis has a unique mechanism of action with effects on multiple allergy and inflammatory mediators. The product provides not only the much desired relief from nasal congestion, but also controls inflammatory effects from leukotrienes and eosinophil cationic protein (ECP). IG-RD-001 has been shown to be safe and effective in two Phase III clinical studies and registration of this product is underway in several countries.

IG-MD-009 (ZeMet)—Our oral medication for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, is expected to achieve superior glycemic control compared to metformin, the standard of care, with potential additional benefits on controlling insulin resistance and B-cell dysfunction. Observations to date suggest that IG-MD-009 will be a weight neutral therapy. We are very confident that IG-MD-009 and its combinations could be a mainstay for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and, potentially, metabolic syndrome.

Our design-phase programs continue to focus on Smarter Medicines for respiratory and metabolic diseases with particular emphasis on asthma, COPD, and neuropathic pain. Our operating goals are to commercialize the development phase portfolios in the next three to four years and advance the pre-clinical projects to the development phase.
