For anyone who has ever suffered from a severe cold, or a running nose, the chairman of Indigene Pharmaceuticals, Dr.M.Vaman Rao, has good news. Later this year, his four-year old company will start marketing the latest remedy to this most common of ailments. A combination of new molecules, it will be launched in the US first and a year later in India. And what is more, he has got a considerable boost from Tata Industries Ltd, which has taken up a 29 per cent stake in the company. While both parties remained tight- lipped about exactly how much money the Tata’s have pumped into the venture, the fact that Ratan Tata was present at the news conference to announce the tie-up clearly means that the amount could be quite large.
