Dr. R. A. Mashelkar, F.R.S.
Dr. Mashelkar, an elected Fellow of Royal Society (F.R.S.) of London, and Foreign Associate of the United States National Academy of Sciences, is presently the President of Global Research Alliance, a network of publicly funded R&D institutes from Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the US with over 60,000 scientists. He is also the President of the National Innovation Foundation. Dr. Mashelkar presently serves as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Tata Motors, Reliance Industries, Hindustan Lever, and Indigene Pharmaceuticals. Prior to this, Dr. Mashelkar served as Director General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and Secretary to Government of India for 11 years. He is a Foreign Fellow of the National Academy of Engineering, US (2003), Fellow of Royal Academy of Engineering, UK (1996), and Fellow of World Academy of Arts & Science, US (2000).
Among his 50 prestigious awards and medals, and twenty-six honorary doctorates, the President of India honored Dr. Mashelkar with the “Padma Shri” (1991) and “Padma Bhushan” (2000), which are two of the highest civilian honors in recognition of his contribution to nation building. Dr. William A. Haseltine
Dr. William A. Haseltine is a researcher, inventor, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He is the Chairman and CEO of Haseltine Associates Ltd., and President of the William A. Haseltine Foundation for Medical Sciences and Arts. Dr. Haseltine pioneered the use of genetic information for fighting diseases such as AIDS. Notably, Time Magazine/CNN named Dr. Haseltine as one of the 25 Most Influential Global Executives in 2001. Dr. Haseltine is the Founder of Human Genome Sciences, Inc., and served as its Chairman and CEO until 2004. He was a professor at Harvard Medical School from 1976-1993 where he was the Chair of two academic research departments. Dr. Haseltine is well known for his pioneering work on cancer and HIV/AIDS.
An active contributor to public service, Dr. Haseltine is the Co-Chair of the President's Council of the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a member of the Advisory Board of the Global Coalition on HIV/AIDS, a member of the Board of One World Health, a member of the CEO Council of the New York Academy of Science, and Chair of the Berkeley Center of Synthetic Biology. In addition, he is a member of the Executive Committee of the Brookings Institution, a member of both, the Council on Foreign Relations and the Trilateral Commission, and a member of the Chairman's Circle of the Asia Society. |

Dr. Goverdhan Mehta, F.R.S.
Dr. Mehta, an elected Fellow of Royal Society (F.R.S.) of London, presently serves as Distinguished Research Professor of Institute of Life Sciences, a CSIR Bhatnagar Fellow, and Member of Scientific Committee to the Prime Minister of India. He is a Foreign Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Fellow of TWAS, and the recipient of over 30 medals/awards and numerous Honorary Doctorate (D.Sc.) degrees. He has been awarded the civilian honor of “Padma Shri” (2000) and “Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur” (2004) by the Presidents of India and France, respectively.
Dr. Mehta has previously held positions as the Director of the Indian Institute of Science (1998-2005) and the President (Vice Chancellor) of the University of Hyderabad (1994-1998), two of India’s most prestigious academic institutions, and served as a Professor of Chemistry (1977-2005). Further, Dr. Mehta served as President of Indian National Academy of Sciences and President of International Council for Science; and is an elected Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, Third World Academy of Science, World Innovation Foundation, and Royal Society of Chemistry. As a member of numerous National and International Committees and Councils since 1977, Dr. Mehta has been responsible for R&D efforts, awards, and framing policies worldwide. |

Dr. Nirmal K. Ganguly, F.R.C.P., F.N.A.
Dr. N. K. Ganguly, one of the leading biomedical scientists, is well known for his path-breaking work in the areas of infectious diseases, immunology, and biotechnology. Until recently, he served as Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). Dr. Ganguly has also served as President of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, President of the Indian Science Congress Association, and has been Director-in-Charge of the National Institute of Biologicals (India).
During the course of his distinguished career, Dr. Ganguly has published over 750 research papers and books, and has received over 85 distinguished international and national honors & fellowships including: the Norman Alpert Award (2004) from the International Academy of Arts and Sciences, the International Spirit of Life Foundation Annual Award, US (2004), and the 24th Rameshwardas Birla National Award (2004) for his “outstanding research in biomedical sciences.” Professor Ganguly is Fellow, Imperial College Faculty of Medicine, London; Royal College of Pathologists, London; International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences, Canada; Third World Academy of Sciences, Italy; and International Medical Sciences Academy, New Delhi. |

Mr. N. Prasad
Mr. Prasad, an entrepreneur and a global pharmaceutical executive, successfully built Matrix Laboratories, a pharmaceutical company that was acquired by Mylan Laboratories. Mr. Prasad presently serves as the Non-Executive Vice Chairman of Mylan-Matrix Laboratories, and as one of the Board of Directors of Mylan, a leading generic and specialty pharmaceutical company. Mr. Prasad built a reputation as a change agent highlighted by the turnaround of Matrix Laboratories Limited, now part of Mylan Inc. Further, Mr. Prasad steered the transformation of Matrix Laboratories from a $1 million (market capitalization) API company, into a $1 billion global pharmaceutical business in a span of only six years. Among other recognition, the Indian equity research firm Motilal Oswal Securities presented the “Fastest Wealth Creator” award to Matrix Laboratories in 2004, 2005, and 2006. Previously, Mr. Prasad served as the Managing Director and CEO of Vorin Laboratories. |

Mr. Homi Khusrokhan
Managing Director of Tata Chemicals (TCL), Mr. Homi R. Khusrokhan, is a keen participant of pharmaceutical and other industry affairs. Formerly, he was Executive Director of Tata Chemicals and Managing Director of Tata Tea. Prior to joining the Tata Group, Mr. Khusrokhan worked for Glaxo Laboratories (India) for 29 years, rising to become Managing Director of Burroughs Wellcome in 1995, and Managing Director of both Glaxo and Wellcome (India) in 1996, a position he held until 2000. During his tenure, the Company was voted as the “most respected company in India” in a 1999 Business World survey.
An alumnus of the London School of Economics, Mr. Khusrokhan is an active member of the Pharmaceutical industry, and has also been President of the Organization of Pharmaceutical Producers of India, and Vice President of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry. |

Mr. Ignace R. Goethals
Mr. Goethals presently serves as the Non-Executive Chairman of Allergy Therapeutics Limited (UK). Prior to this, Mr. Goethals was President of Worldwide Operations at SmithKline Beecham until the end of 1998. He has had a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry with Eli Lilly, Squibb/Bristol Myers Squibb, and Smith Kline Beecham, rising to the highest levels.
His experience is exceptionally broad covering sales and marketing, country and regional general management positions, licensing and business development, business unit management (biologicals and animal health) and pharmaceutical supply. |

Mr. Kasim Kutay
Mr. Kutay presently serves as the Managing Director of SUN Group. With almost two decades of investment banking experience, Mr. Kutay joined SUN Group as head of the Financial Solutions Group. Prior to this, he spent 18 years at Morgan Stanley where he was Managing Director and Chairman of the Healthcare Practice. During that time, Kasim advised healthcare companies on corporate finance matters including mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, and other equity and debt financings. Mr. Kutay is also on the Board of Governors of SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies), the UK's leading university for the study of Asia and Africa. Further, he is a member of the Advisory Council of the London Middle East Institute; and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Northwick Park Institute for Medical Research, the UK's leading independent medical research institute. |

Dr. G. Alexander Fleming
Dr. Fleming is the President and Chief Executive Officer for Kinexum. Dr. Fleming is a well recognized authority in the metabolic and endocrine fields with extensive US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) experience. For 12 years he served as the FDA’s Chief Medical Officer for diabetes and other metabolic and endocrine disorders, and held assignments with World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH). Dr. Fleming helped shape regulatory policies, review processes, and review professionalism for over a decade as reviewer, leader, and innovator at the FDA.
Dr. Fleming held FDA regulatory responsibilities for metabolic and endocrine disorders, growth and development, nutrition, lipid-lowering compounds, and reproductive disorders. He served as a member of numerous expert committees, and is the lead author of Optimizing Therapeutic Development in Diabetes. Soon after moving to the US-FDA from the National Institute of Health (NIH), he was responsible for the review and approval of the first statin drug. He also led reviews and was responsible for the early biotech industry regulation in the US. |
